House of the Virgin Mary Virtual Tour

Welcome to the House of the Virgin Mary, believed to be where Mary the mother of Jesus, spent her final years with St. John (Yuhanna) on Bulbuldagi in Selchuk, Izmir.

The first thing you will encounter on the road to the church is the statue of the Virgin Mary. This statue, a gift from a religious community in Izmir, dates back to 1867. It was placed in its current location in 1960 by Father François Saulais of the Charles de Foucauld order.

As you follow the path, you can also see a miniature version of this statue on the left side of the stairs.

Continuing up the stairs, you will see the House of the Virgin Mary (the church) on your left.

Upon entering through the door, you will be greeted by a prayer area, and when you look to your right and left, you will see areas for prayer.

As you proceed further, you will notice paintings around you.

When you exit through the door and turn left, you will come across an area where wishes are made with candles. Here, you can light candles and make wishes, and the candles you purchase can support the church.

Continuing down the stairs, you will reach the fountain belonging to the House of the Virgin Mary. You can refresh yourself with cold water from the fountain and enjoy its refreshing taste.

As you move forward, you will see a wall on your right filled with papers. This is the wall of wishes where you can write your wishes on paper and hang them on the wall.

As you progress towards the exit, you will see a well on your right.

Passing by the well, you will encounter souvenir shops where you can purchase mementos and gifts for yourself and your loved ones.

I hope you have a wonderful experience exploring the House of the Virgin Mary and enjoying the historical atmosphere of the church.
